Meet Stephanie   Stephanie Hollist is a lifelong Utahn, an attorney, and a problem-solver who believes Utah’s government should work for the people it serves — not for entrenched power. Stephanie has lived in Davis County for more than 35 years. She and her husband have raised their four children here, all of whom attend schools in the Davis County School District. Her husband works at Davis High School, giving their family a deep, firsthand connection to the everyday challenges facing local families. She is a community-minded leader with deep roots in Utah’s civic and educational institutions. Personal Note: As your state senator, I will focus on being the voice of our community. I will stand up for our rights – our right to question and challenge government when it fails to act as it should, and our right to a system of checks and balances carefully designed by our founders. Government must be limited to the scope of its role and accountable to avoid government overreach and corruption.   So many people I meet are concerned about our future. We’re concerned that our state’s values are being pushed aside, eroded, or corrupted. I understand that concern, because I feel it too. I am a parent. I live here. I care deeply about what kind of future we are leaving to our children and our community.   We are seeing just one example of this right now with big development proposals that have the potential to significantly impact our resources – and our lake. Moving things like this forward without listening to these concerns – or not even acknowledging them in the first place – leads to serious questions about who our government is serving. And how we’ve given so much power to unelected bodies with the ability to have such a huge impact on our resources – our water, our air, our environment.   I also meet a lot of people who are ready to step up. We’re not giving up. We know it’s possible. This is why I’m willing to say what needs to be said to those who need to hear it, and why I’m not afraid to do what must be done. But I can’t do it alone.   Together, we are protecting our future – and that makes the work worth it. It’s time. Time for hope, for commitment, and for standing up for what is right. We can do this.
