Factual Supernatural - EP03 - Runners

Jonathan Frank Tate spent years patrolling Newborough Forest on Anglesey as Warden, and it's one of his own recorded accounts, unaltered from his book Factual Supernatural, now out on Amazon, that gives this episode of the Haunted UK Podcast its material. Sitting on a quiet hillock above a forest track on a calm summer afternoon, he hears what sounds like hundreds, maybe thousands, of feet running along the path directly below him. When he looks down, the track is completely empty. The sound doesn't fade or explain itself. It builds into what he describes as a stampede's worth of footsteps, rushing and overlapping, with no voices and no visible cause, while sunlight falls undisturbed across an empty path and the ferns beside it don't so much as move. It lasts several long minutes before receding into the trees, leaving the forest to settle back into ordinary birdsong as though nothing had happened at all.
