Hear Me Out & Pass the Scissors - A Scrapbooking Podcast

How do you start a scrapbook layout when you have photos, beautiful scrapbook collections, and plenty of sketches but still feel stuck? In this episode of Hear Me Out and Pass the Scissors, Lisa from Life in Layouts and Nicole from ColieBing share how they approach scrapbook layout design when starting with products, photos, or a story they want to tell. They discuss choosing scrapbook collections, finding the right sketch, using older scrapbook supplies, shopping your stash, adapting sketches to fit your photos, and finding creative inspiration in unexpected places. Through real layout examples, honest conversations about creative blocks, and plenty of differences in their scrapbooking styles, Lisa and Nicole explore why choosing a starting point can feel so difficult and how too many creative options can get in the way. Whether you are a beginner scrapbooker or an experienced memory keeper, this episode offers practical ideas to help you get unstuck, use the supplies you already own, and find a scrapbooking process that works for you. Because there is no single right way to start a scrapbook page. You just have to find what works for you! In this episode of Hear Me Out! Pass the Scissors, Nicole and Lisa are looking back at some of their own scrapbook layouts and YouTube videos to see how closely our opinions matched the analytics. We talk about our personal favorite scrapbook layouts, projects we were convinced would be a hit that completely tanked, surprise videos that performed much better than expected, and the layouts we somehow managed to call correctly. We also talk about YouTube views, subscribers, thumbnails, design team content, scrapbook hops, and why the amount of time and effort we put into a layout doesn't always translate into success online. Along the way, we share some of the scrapbook layouts and videos that taught us the most, including a few that still leave us wondering, “Why did THAT one do so well?” Whether you're a scrapbooker, a YouTube creator, or just curious about what happens behind the scenes of creating scrapbook content, grab your scissors and hear us out! In the Season 2 finale of Hear Me Out and Pass the Scissors, Lisa and Nicole tackle one of their biggest "what if" questions yet: What if they had to start over from scratch? Imagine losing every scrapbook supply, tool, album, photo organization system, YouTube channel, design team connection, and follower overnight. What would they buy first? What would they never purchase again? Would they still scrapbook Disney, create double-page layouts, create scenes or even start a YouTube channel? Join them as they reflect on the lessons they've learned about scrapbooking, content creation, organization, and creativity while sharing the mistakes they'd avoid, the tools they couldn't live without, and the advice they'd give to their beginner selves. Whether you're new to scrapbooking or have been preserving memories for decades, this heartfelt and inspiring season finale is packed with practical tips, honest conversation, and encouragement for every memory keeper. In this episode of Hear Me Out and Pass the Scissors, Lisa and Nicole challenge the idea that scrapbookers always need new inspiration. Instead, they share the sketches, sketch bundles, classes, and creative resources they return to again and again when designing scrapbook layouts. From favorite page sketches for heavy embellishing to go-to sketch bundles that help use up paper scraps and 6x6 paper pads, they discuss why some resources stand the test of time and how the same sketch can produce completely different results. Along the way, they highlight layouts from their own channels, talk about the value of revisiting proven designs, and encourage scrapbookers to get more mileage from the inspiration they already have. Whether you're looking for scrapbook sketch ideas, layout inspiration, ways to use scraps, or tips for stretching your favorite classes and workshops, this episode is packed with practical ideas for creative memory keeping.
