Franchesca Ramsey on 20 Years of Content Creation, Viral Fame, Bombing SNL Audition

Franchesca Ramsey sits down with KevOnStage and That Chick Angel to break down her 20-year career as one of the original internet content creators. From making hair tutorials on YouTube in 2009 to going viral with "Shit White Girls Say to Black Girls" in 2012, winning YouTube's NextUp competition for $35,000, and making $45,000 in a single month off one video, Franchesca shares the unfiltered truth about what happens after virality hits. She opens up about bombing her ’SNL’ audition, landing her first TV writing gig on ‘The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore,’ suffering from severe imposter syndrome in a writers' room alongside Cord Jefferson, and selling seven television shows to networks like Comedy Central, Netflix, and Nickelodeon -- none of which went to series. Franchesca also gets real about why she went back to a day job and why that's not giving up on your dream, her return to standup comedy after a 15-year hiatus, why virality is not a business model, and how turning 40 gave her the confidence to finally own who she is. Plus, she talks about her content creator masterclass, The Brand Is Strong, and why she stopped waiting for permission to make her own content. #KevOnStage #ContentCreation #YouTubeOG #ViralContent #TVWriting #Comedy #StandupComedy #CreatorEconomy Sign up right now with promo code KEVONSTAGE.
