Hey You Guys

Send us Fan Mail Brad Dourif is feral, the robot dog is clunky, and the corridors are very wet — which can only mean one thing: we’re diving into Death Machine (1994). Rob and Liam revisit Stephen Norrington’s pre‑Blade cyberpunk oddity, a film Rob adored at age 10… and is now deeply questioning in 2026. From the aggressively grimy 90s aesthetic to the War Beast that moves like a shopping trolley with a wonky wheel, this one is a relic of a very specific VHS era — charming to some, exhausting...

Send us Fan Mail This week on the Hey You Guys Podcast, Liam, Rob and special guest Dave revisit JJ Abrams’ Star Trek — a film that somehow pulls off the impossible. Part prequel, part reboot, part alternate‑timeline legacy sequel, it’s a movie that shouldn’t work… yet absolutely does. The guys dig into how Abrams threads the needle between honouring decades of Trek lore and delivering a fast, fun, blockbuster‑style reinvention for newcomers. They debate the film’s breakneck pacing, its “too ...

Send us Fan Mail This week Rob and Liam dive into Disney’s gloriously chaotic 90s swashbuckler The Three Musketeers — a film packed with mullets, moustaches, pantomime villainy and some of the most joyful sword‑fighting ever put on screen. We get into Oliver Platt having the time of his life, Tim Curry chewing scenery like he’s auditioning for Evil Santa, and the palace map room with a giant secret door that absolutely no one notices. Rob also revisits his childhood belief that D’Artagnan was...

Send us Fan Mail This week, Liam takes us through Timecop, the 90s sci‑fi action flick where Jean‑Claude Van Damme roundhouse‑kicks his way through time, corruption, and some truly baffling filmmaking choices. We dig into the infamous “satisfy a woman” line — a moment so gross the movie somehow uses it twice — and the henchman’s taser that behaves less like a weapon and more like a handheld thunderstorm. Rob questions the architectural fever dream of having a breaker box on the middle floor o...

Send us Fan Mail This week, we wade into the oil‑soaked, explosion‑heavy world of On Deadly Ground — Steven Seagal’s one and only attempt at directing, and arguably the most sincere environmental PSA ever delivered through roundhouse kicks. We break down Forrest Taft’s journey from elite firefighter to eco‑warrior, the cartoonishly evil oil baron played by Michael Caine, and the film’s belief that the best way to save the planet is… to blow up absolutely everything. We talk about the Al...
