Ep. 19 Below the Line: Film, Housing & New Mexico's Growing Industry with Dillon Tiger Abeyta & Bright Quashie

In this episode of Housing Matters, host Roman "Tiger" Abeyta sits down with filmmakers Dillon "Tiger" Abeyta and Bright Quashie to talk about New Mexico's booming film industry, and the housing challenges quietly shaping its future. Dillon and Bright share how they each found their way into film, from Bright's journey from Ghana to working on Better Call Saul, to Dillon's path through UNM, the writers' strikes, and film school in London. They also introduce Phintch, a new streaming platform dedicated to New Mexican stories and connecting New Mexico filmmakers with each other. The conversation turns to the "below the line" workforce — the electricians, drivers, and crew members who make up 80% of any production — and why affordable, stable housing is essential to keeping this growing industry sustainable in New Mexico for the long run.
