Description

In this episode of How to Deal When the Shit Gets Real, Jenn and I have an honest conversation about women's bodies, body image, and learning to accept the body you're in—even when your relationship with it hasn't always been easy. Jenn and I grew up having very different experiences with our bodies. Jenn grew up being thicker, while I spent much of my younger life being naturally thin. But despite starting in completely different places, we've both had to navigate insecurities, changing bodies, comparison, and learning what it actually means to feel comfortable in our own skin. We talk about the pressure women face surrounding weight and appearance, how our relationships with our bodies change as we get older, and why reaching a certain size or number on the scale doesn't automatically create confidence. In this episode, we discuss: • Growing up with different body types • How childhood and adolescence shape body image • Being thin versus growing up in a thicker body • The pressure women feel surrounding weight and appearance • Comparing our bodies to other women • How our bodies change throughout our lives • Learning to separate weight from self-worth • The complicated relationship between fitness, health, and appearance • Learning to appreciate the body you have now • What body acceptance actually looks like • Giving ourselves the grace we often give everyone else Our bodies are going to change. They're supposed to. Learning to love yourself isn't about finally reaching the perfect weight, size, or shape—it's about realizing your body was never something you needed to earn the right to feel good about. This conversation is about giving ourselves a little more grace, letting go of impossible expectations, and learning to appreciate the bodies that have carried us through every version of ourselves.
