Description

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Do you know the best ways to protect yourself? As it turns out, mammograms are just part of the overall recommended strategy. Renowned breast surgeon Dr. Robin Williams breaks down not only how mammograms work but why prevention is the best cure, how to be empowered when it comes to your breast health, and how to combat any fears you may have on the subject which, she explains, also applies to men, not just women. There is also good news: breast cancer is not a death sentence. Dr. Williams is a clinical associate professor and director of Breast Surgical Oncology at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. A graduate of The John Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Williams has more than 30 years of experience as a surgeon. She also previously served as president of the Nashville Coalition of the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer and president of the Nashville Academy of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Williams has had board positions with the Midsouth Division of the American Cancer Society, Nashville, the Midsouth Division of the American Cancer Society, the Nashville Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition. Dr. Williams is also a recipient of numerous honors, including the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center Legacy Award and the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition Mary Jones Award.   Make sure to subscribe to Karen's channel here: https://www.youtube.com/@thekarenjordan Follow Karen on social:   / thekarenjordan   / thekarenjordan About the Show: On 'How to Stay Sane with Karen Jordan,' you'll get a dose of free therapy and learn healthy hacks to fuel your journey to living your best life possible with the help of mental health experts and surprise guests.
