Conviction Over Doubt in Knowing I Am a Son

I sat with the difference between conviction and doubt, and I saw how the elder son doubted who his father was and lost track of who he was in the process. When the younger son came to his senses the doubt fell away, and he knew he could turn back toward his father, and that return is where his real identity began to surface. So much of my own identity waits on the other side of repenting and believing, and I ended by asking Jesus for the conviction to know that I am a son of the Father, and that he is well pleased with me.
