Hearing the Father Call Me His Beloved Son

I kept repeating the words the Father speaks over me, that I am his beloved son and he is well pleased with me, and I let them settle instead of rushing past them. What struck me was the joy in it, the kind of delight a five year old has when he just wants to be near his dad, and I asked to see that same joy coming toward me. So I invited him into the ordinary work of the day, not to perform for him but to be with him, and I stayed there a while and rested in his presence.
