Changing Hollywood One Prayer at a Time

Can prayer really change an entire industry? In this episode of the iRefresh Podcast, Karen Covell — founder of the Hollywood Prayer Network — shares 25 years of remarkable stories about the power of intercessory prayer in one of the world's most influential mission fields: Hollywood. Karen opens up about starting a prayer ministry that began small and has grown into 170 chapters across 40 countries, and shares a jaw-dropping personal testimony of how a group of friends' Sunday prayer coincided with the miraculous healing of her son's brain tumor. She also talks candidly about walking through her own son's painful season of hurt and disconnection from the church, the mission statement that has anchored 42 years of marriage, and a powerful story of an actor whose obedience on a difficult film set led directly to someone else's salvation. This conversation is packed with encouragement for anyone who feels like their prayers go unanswered, anyone building community in a hard place, or anyone wondering if God is really moving behind the scenes. 00:00 Introduction: Changing Hollywood Through Prayer 00:30 Welcome and Meeting Karen: Sisters in Prayer 02:02 Finding Your One Big Thing: Purpose and Calling 02:52 Breaking the Lie: Hollywood as a Mission Field 04:10 Prayer Is the Greater Work 07:10 Marriage Mission Statement: United Purpose 08:54 Three Pillars: Challenge, Community, and Sharing Faith 11:20 Praying for the House Next Door: La Brie Vision 12:57 When Christians Hurt Christians: Walking Through Pain 14:56 Curiosity Over Judgment: Responding with Grace 16:40 The Brain Tumor Miracle: Prayer Changes Everything 19:13 Prayers Like Meteors: Heaven Hears and Responds 21:21 Faithfulness in the Wait: Trusting God's Timing 22:01 God Turns Everything to Good: The Adventure of Faith 22:26 Hollywood as Mission Field: Strategic Positioning 23:41 The Power of Connection: Global Prayer Network 25:31 Hollywood Jesus and You: The Book and Devotional 27:31 Ways to Connect: App, Chapters, and Prayer Partnerships 34:44 God Is Moving in Hollywood: Hope and Transformation 36:07 The Vampire Show Miracle: Obedience Opens Doors 39:48 Take Back Territory: Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus 40:19 Show Up and Obey: The Greatest Reward 41:33 Support the Mission: Plant Seeds for Global Impact 43:19 Closing: Keep Showing Up Every Day Website: https://www.irefresh.net/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/irefresh Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/irefreshministry/
