Description
Introduction:
Hello everyone and welcome to episode #14 of the podcast. This week I will be doing a recap of the race last weekend at Gateway.
Talking Points:
Will Hendrick finally break through for a win after struggling all summer long?
Will Denny Hamlin go back to back at Gateway in the playoffs?
Will Tyler Reddick build on his momentum from Darlington last weekend?
What will the Chase standings look like after the race at Gateway?
Driver Race Recaps:
Denny Hamlin:
- Denny Hamlin had a decent car at Gateway, which led to him being at the front most of the day
- Hamlin earned some stage points on the day, which added to his points total in the Chase standings
- Hamlin came home with a 9th place finish, which kept him on top of the Chase standings
Ty Gibbs:
- Ty Gibbs had an ok race at Gateway, as he earned some stage points on the day overall
- Gibbs was at the front during parts of the race, but he did not have a winning car at Gateway
- Gibbs ended up finishing in the top 20, which was good considering the car he had at Gateway
Christopher Bell:
- Christopher Bell had a good race at Gateway, as he grabbed some valuable stage points in the first stage
- Bell did not finish well at Gateway, though the silver lining is that he had a clean day overall
- Bell looks to go to Bristol and contend for another win, to show the Chase contenders that he is one to beat for the championship when it matters the most.
Chase Briscoe:
- Chase Briscoe had a mediocre day at Gateway when things were all said and done
- Briscoe gained some stage points, and he also got caught up in a wreck, not of his own doing towards the end of the race.
- Briscoe looks on to Bristol as a place where he and his team can have a strong run, and the #19 team can gain some valuable points and maybe even a win.
Headlines:
- NASCAR heads to Bristol for the third race of the Chase for the NASCAR Cup Series
- Things are really starting to get interesting with all of these issues already, during the first two races of the Chase.
- Look for Elliott, Hamlin, Logano, Gibbs, and Larson to be contenders for the win, when the pay window opens during the Bristol Night Race on Saturday night.
Outro:
