Pat describes growing up immersed in church but later rebelling and distancing herself from the Lord. After years away, God began drawing her back through her children and through Christian women whose personal relationships with Jesus demonstrated something Pat knew she was missing. One simple reminder from Proverbs—that a child trained in the way he should go will not ultimately depart from it—became a turning point. Pat describes this as one of her first profound encounters with the power of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit. Pat also introduces My Maker and Me: Becoming God’s Beautiful Vessel, a six-week Bible study inspired by Isaiah 64:8: “We are the clay, and You our potter.” After observing a master potter work with clay, Pat began seeing powerful spiritual parallels. Clay must be prepared. Impurities must be worked out. The clay must be properly centered. The foundation must be secure. The potter’s hands must remain involved throughout the process. And finally, the vessel must endure the fire in order to become strong and lasting. Those lessons became the framework for helping believers understand how God shapes and transforms His people. Pat and TS also discuss the importance of moving beyond simply reading a short devotional and learning how to personally study Scripture. Pat shares the heart behind another of her Bible studies, Digging Into God’s Word, which teaches women how to study the Bible while actually leading them through Bible study. The conversation culminates in Pat’s central message about identity in Christ. Instead of continually defining ourselves by past sins, failures, weaknesses, and mistakes, believers must learn to see themselves according to what Christ has accomplished for them. Pat particularly encourages believers to spend time in Ephesians 1, where Scripture reveals what it means to be forgiven, blessed, accepted in the Beloved, adopted into God’s family, and given a new identity through Jesus Christ. Scriptures discussed: Isaiah 64:8, Isaiah 55:11, Proverbs 22:6, and Ephesians 1.
