Could Jesus Be Tempted to Sin?

SEP 24, 202639 MIN

Description

Jen Wilkin, JT English, and Kyle Worley answer the question “Could Jesus be tempted to sin?” Questions Covered in This Episode: Can Jesus be tempted to sin? What does it mean that Jesus is fully God and fully man? If he was fully man, could he be tempted? Was it a real temptation? Could he have sinned? What is Impeccability? What is temptation? Are there different kinds of temptation? How does the Bible help us live in tension? Correct or validate this statement: “In his humanity he could have sinned; in his deity he never would have.” How should Christians live in light of this truth? Is it a silly question to ask “what would Jesus do?” What about union with Christ? Helpful Definitions: Hypostatic Union: The eternal Son of God takes upon a human nature and now eternally exists as one person with two distinct natures, fully God and fully man, Peccability: Able not to sin (posse non peccare). Non posse non peccare: Not able not to sin. Posse peccare, posse non peccare: Able to sin, able not to sin Impeccability: Unable to sin (Non posse peccare). Immutability: God is unchanging. Nestorianism: Separates the natures of Christ.
