Description
What changes when you stop seeing someone as an obstacle and start seeing the human in front of you?
In this episode, Josh and Patrick sit down with Lighthouse facilitator Jim Ferree for a conversation about the experiences that shaped his life, the relationships that changed him, and the daily practice of becoming the person he wants to be.
Jim shares his journey from ministry, to a 26-year career in law enforcement in Phoenix, and eventually to Lighthouse. Through stories from interview rooms, family life, and his own growth, he explores how listening, curiosity, and genuine care can reach people who are used to being judged.
The conversation moves into the space between stimulus and response, the patterns that keep us in conflict, and Jim’s ongoing effort to respond with grace when he feels hurt. They also discuss parenting with freedom and discipline, helping children make their own choices, and discovering a purpose that can remain consistent through very different chapters of life.
At the heart of it all is Jim’s desire to step in so that no one has to struggle or suffer alone. His story about Pablo, an informant who became much more than that, brings that purpose into focus.
