Description
Stocks managed to hold near record highs even as Treasury yields jumped and expectations for a September Fed rate hike increased.
The August jobs report showed 162,000 jobs added, roughly three times economists' expectations, while unemployment held at 4.1%. The strong labor market was good news for the economy—but potentially bad news for stocks because it gives the Fed less reason to ease policy.

Whether higher yields finally put pressure on growth stocks
The market is sending an interesting message: the economy looks strong enough to support earnings, but perhaps too strong for the Fed to cut rates.
The big question now is whether stocks can continue to rise if inflation remains sticky, oil moves higher and Treasury yields stay elevated.
