Description
Video is coming to the podcast, but the bigger question is whether we’re willing to be seen living what we say we believe. We start with some real-life catch up, then shift into week two of our “Be The Church” series with a direct look at Luke 9:23. Jesus doesn’t offer a life upgrade he offers a new life, and his invitation comes with verbs: deny yourself, take up your cross daily, and follow.
We talk about the difference between adding Jesus to an already crowded schedule and giving Jesus the blank check of our allegiance. “Lord Jesus Christ” isn’t just a phrase we toss around it’s a claim that Jesus is King. That raises uncomfortable but necessary questions about obedience, repentance, and why basic Christian convictions can feel “radical” in a culture that expects faith to stay private and painless. We also push back on the idea that the church got too political, arguing that politics has gotten too spiritual as moral issues replace real policy conversations.
From prosperity-gospel expectations to the fan vs follower gap, we name the traps that keep people stuck in a cycle of crisis faith, “genie Jesus,” and a customized version of God built from opinions instead of Scripture. We close with practical discipleship takeaways: Sabbath rhythms, putting the phone down, rebuilding quiet time, and letting God’s Word form us when life gets hard. If this challenged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review and tell us what you’re trying to surrender this week.
