Description

If you’ve ever thought, “God must be done with me,” this message flips that script with one uncomfortable question: when you think of God, what do you picture first? We talk honestly about how our circumstances can rewire our theology, so we start believing God is good only when life feels good. But if we’re made in the image of God, we can’t build our identity on a moody, moment-by-moment version of Him. We need the real picture, especially when prayers feel unanswered and shame feels loud. We anchor the conversation in Luke 15, where two crowds collide: notorious sinners who lean in close to Jesus, and religious leaders who complain that grace is getting too personal. From there, we walk through the prodigal son story as a window into the goodness of God. The son wants the Father’s gifts without the Father’s authority, and it leads him straight into emptiness. We name what sin does in real life: it advertises pleasure and hides the price, promising freedom while producing bondage. Then comes the turning point: “when he finally came to his senses.” We unpack repentance as more than guilt. It’s a change of direction toward a God who is kind, patient, and ready to reconcile. And the shock of the story is this: the Father runs, restores, and celebrates before the son can earn anything back. If God’s kindness leads us to repentance, we ask what it would look like for the church to run toward people instead of backing away.
