Love Songs

Dive into the enchanting world of Sara Teasdales Love Songs, a collection that masterfully blends classical lyrical tones with themes often influenced by feminism. Originally published in 1917, this remarkable book quickly captured the hearts of readers, leading to five additional printings before its celebrated 1918 edition. Recognized as the winner of the Columbia University Poetry Prize—an early precursor to the Pulitzer Prize for poetry—Teasdales work was instrumental in shaping the new Romanticism movement. Despite her profound impact on contemporaries like Edna St. Vincent Millay, Teasdales style has often been overlooked in literary anthologies. Join us as we present a reading of her timeless 1918 edition, celebrating the beauty and depth of her poetry. - Summary by Elise Dee This show includes AI-generated content.
