Karpinsky [Journey Series]

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series. On this edition, we welcome Karpinsky (@karpinskymusic), a Warsaw-based selector whose relationship with rhythm has always been less about arriving somewhere and more about what happens along the way. Somewhere between the familiar and the unfamiliar, a certain kind of magic begins to unfold. A groove appears, a melody slips through the cracks, and suddenly the room feels different. Karpinsky understands this territory well, guiding the listener through shifting atmospheres, hypnotic patterns, and unexpected turns that seem to emerge from somewhere just beyond reach. His sound carries traces of the Middle Eastern underground, deep electronic textures, and the warmth of funk and soul, all moving through a restless current of basslines and intricate rhythms. Nothing stays still for too long. The music breathes, bends, and transforms, creating a space where instinct takes over and the distinction between the beginning and the destination slowly dissolves. Already familiar with the Magician On Duty universe, Karpinsky previously joined PYSH on the label's release "Boogie". Their collaboration revealed a natural chemistry, with both artists navigating the space between hypnotic repetition and playful unpredictability. Here, Karpinsky returns to the journey in a different role, unfolding his own selection of sounds, encounters, and carefully placed detours. Across 24 tracks, the mix moves like a map drawn in disappearing ink. Familiar voices surface before slipping back into the shadows, rhythms change shape, and moments of recognition arrive when least expected. From Musumeci and MAHO's “Me Sientes” in the Yamagucci Remix to Karpinsky's own “Play With Me,” through the shared spell of “Boogie” with PYSH, the journey moves between playful tension, deeper currents, and moments of pure release. There are no straight lines here. A turn leads to another turn. A familiar melody opens a door you don't remember seeing before. Somewhere along the way, the outside world begins to lose its definition, leaving only the pulse, the atmosphere, and the feeling that something is quietly rearranging itself.
