Mao's Lost Years in the Yan'an Diaries

We turn away from the grand stage of Tiananmen and the bloodshed of the Cultural Revolution to explore a quieter, more formative period: Mao Zedong’s years in Yan’an during the Second Sino-Japanese War. While history often remembers him as a military strategist or political tyrant, this episode examines how he reshaped his own image through calligraphy, poetry, and intellectual rectification. We look at the specific texts he studied, the influence of Wang Xizhi on his revolutionary brushwork, and the psychological transformation that turned a rural insurgent into a national icon. From the Yenan Rectification Campaign to the intimate diaries kept by his secretaries, we uncover the personal rituals and ideological shifts that cemented his power long before the People’s Republic was founded. Join us as we trace the ink-stained path of a leader who wrote his destiny in the mountains of Shaanxi. #MaoZedong #YanAn #ChineseHistory #SecondSinoJapaneseWar #MaoCalligraphy #ShuFa #WangXizhi #RectificationCampaign #KangSheng #RedArmy #ShaaxiProvince #CommunistChina #HistoricalDiaries #ChineseLiterature #LiBai #DuFu #MaoThought #FexingoHistory #History Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
