Description
Let us invoke the Holy Spirit as we approach the mystery of creation: the divine design and plan for the universe and humanity. In the Semitic way of thinking, God created theuniverse according to patterns, or types in His mind. We can still read those types in His work. The first example of creation by type is in Genesis 1:26-27, “And He said: Let us make man to our image and likeness … And God created man to his own image: to the image of God He created him: male and female He created them.” The “image of likeness” of God are thepattern (type) by which we were created.
