Description
Menopause took the best part of our marriage, and for years, neither of us understood what was happening.
We used to plan hotel weekends, cruises, and romantic getaways around our sex life. Physical intimacy, flirting, and sexual connection were a huge part of who we were as a couple. Then perimenopause changed everything.
Judy began experiencing vaginal dryness, painful sex, and a dramatic loss of libido. David felt rejected and wondered whether his wife was still attracted to him. At the same time, he was experiencing his own hormonal changes and low testosterone.
Neither of us understood how menopause and changing hormones could affect sexual desire, intimacy, and marriage.
In Episode 33 of the Marriage and Menopause Podcast, we share what happened when our once-active sex life began disappearing and how we eventually found our way back to each other. In this episode, we discuss:Why sex can become painful during perimenopause and menopause
How low estrogen and vaginal changes can affect physical intimacy
Why women may experience a sudden loss of sexual desire
How husbands can mistake low libido for personal rejection
The impact of low testosterone on men and relationships
Why we could reconnect sexually on vacation but struggled at home
How hormone replacement therapy (HRT) became part of Judy's experience
How communication, flirting, and rebuilding intimacy helped us reconnect
Why painful sex deserves medical attention rather than silence
This is an honest conversation about menopause, sexless marriage fears, changing hormones, and what happens when two people still love each other but lose an important part of their connection.
