Metanthropy

Details

Metanthropy is a future philosophy podcast about compassionate self-directed evolution. Hosted by Max Nova, the show explores how humanity — and future sentient life — may move beyond biological limitation through science, technology, wisdom, and ethical imagination. Metanthropy is not generic futurism, tech hype, AI panic, or cold transhumanist abstraction. It asks what the future means from both the objective standpoint of science, engineering, biology, neuroscience, AI, and biotechnology, and the subjective standpoint of lived experience: fear, love, death, identity, beauty, creativity, suffering, dignity, and meaning. The podcast investigates artificial intelligence, longevity, brain-computer interfaces, genetic engineering, neurotechnology, robotics, synthetic biology, artificial sentience, space civilization, and the moral future of life itself. Its central question is not merely what we can build. It is what we should become. Metanthropy begins from one conviction: Humanity is precious, but not final.

Senolytics — Can Removing Damaged Cells Make Aging Healthier?
What if one of the keys to healthier aging lies in eliminating cells that refuse to die? As we grow older, certain cells enter a state called cellular senescence. They stop dividing but remain alive, sometimes releasing inflammatory signals that disrupt surrounding tissues and contribute to age-related deterioration. Scientists are investigating an intriguing possibility: could selectively removing these cells slow certain aspects of biological decline? In Episode 7 of the Metanthropy Podcast, Max Nova explores the emerging science of senolytics—experimental interventions designed to eliminate specific populations of senescent cells. We investigate how cellular senescence works, why it can both protect and harm the body, and what researchers have discovered about compounds such as dasatinib, quercetin, and fisetin. From remarkable experiments in mice to human clinical trials—including promising new findings in liver disease—we examine the evidence, the limitations, and the unanswered questions. Can senolytics genuinely improve human healthspan? Could they eventually become part of a new generation of therapies targeting biological aging? Or are we still overlooking crucial complexities? The science is fascinating. The possibilities are enormous. But the distance between a promising mechanism and a proven anti-aging treatment remains substantial. Metanthropy explores the future of the human condition through science, emerging technologies, transhumanism, and compassionate self-directed evolution. Humanity is precious, but not final.
