George: —and I'm telling you, Laura, this is the LAST good patio stretch of the year. Like, this is it.
Laura: George, you said that two weeks ago.
George: Okay but this time I MEAN it. Have you been outside?
Laura: I have been outside, yes, I live here too.
George: Fair.
Laura: It's that... crispy afternoon, cold-at-night thing. Classic October in the Cities.
George: Classic. You get that one perfect hour around four o'clock where the light hits and everybody on the sidewalk looks good.
Laura: Golden hour George.
George: Golden hour George is a real guy, don't make fun.
Laura: Ope, wouldn't dream of it.
George: There it is.
Laura: So what are we doing today. Because I know you have a list.
George: I have a small list. Not even a list. More like... a vibe map.
Laura: A vibe map.
George: Patio holdouts, farmers markets while they're still open, art crawl weekend, you know. The real stuff.
Laura: Okay I'm into it. But before we go anywhere — Mill City is still running Saturdays, right?
George: Yeah. Through October. 9 to 1, down by the river.
Laura: Good. Because last year I showed up in November like a fool.
George: You did not.
Laura: I DID. Walked up with my little tote bag, nothing. Just the wind.
George: Oh no.
Laura: Just me and the wind and my shame.
George: Okay so this year, mark it — Saturdays, 9 to 1, through the end of the month. Midtown's open too, same hours.
Laura: Midtown is my spot, by the way. East Lake Street. That's my neighborhood market.
George: It's a good one. And then Lyndale, the Minneapolis Farmers Market down on Lyndale, that's open daily right now for the fall season.
Laura: Daily is wild to me. Who's going on a Tuesday?
George: Retired people. People who work from home. Me, allegedly.
Laura: Allegedly.
George: I've been once.
Laura: Once?
George: In like, a year. Don't tell anyone.
Laura: Golden hour George, part-time farmer.
George: Okay — before we keep going, quick shout, this episode is brought to you by our friends at mplsvegan.com. If you want the actual plant-based map of this city, that's where you go.
Laura: Legit. They do the work so you don't have to Google at 11pm hungry.
George: Which I have done. Many times.
Laura: We know, George.
George: Speaking of — can we do food first? I need to talk about food.
Laura: Please.
George: Okay. J. Selby's. St. Paul.
Laura: The Dirty Gyro.
George: THE Dirty Gyro.
Laura: You don't even have to say more. That's a complete sentence.
George: It's a complete sentence AND a complete meal. And in October, going into St. Paul for that — it just hits different.
Laura: It really does. There's something about crossing over to the East side in fall. The leaves on Summit, the whole thing.
George: Yes. Yes. And then — pivoting — Herbivorous Butcher. NE Mpls.
Laura: Classic. Grab a sandwich, walk the Arts District a little.
George: Have you been to Reverie lately?
Laura: Reverie I love. South side, cozy, you can sit there for hours.
George: Patio's winding down over there but the inside is like... it's a soft chair and a warm drink kind of place now.
Laura: Which is the whole point of October, honestly.
George: And Hard Times. Shoutout to Hard Times.
Laura: Hard Times forever.
George: That place has been there since before I had opinions.
Laura: George, you were BORN with opinions.
George: Rude. True.
Laura: Trio is my pick though. Trio Plant-Based, over on the north side.
George: The brunch?
Laura: The brunch. I don't need t...
