Description
Waiting until January to fix your money is a setup.
When you tell yourself you will just swipe through the holidays and figure it out in the new year, you do not get a fresh start. You spend the entire first quarter digging out of a financial hangover.
In this episode of Tiffany's Take, we run a three-step cash flow triage to stop the bleeding right now so you can walk into next year on solid ground:
1. Set boundaries before November hits
List your non-negotiable expenses between now and December 31st, from travel and meals to teacher gifts. Set a hard dollar cap. If the money is not in your account today, do not borrow from your future to impress people this season.
2. Protect your cortisol buffer
Forget the six-month emergency fund rule for a minute. Do you have $1,000 to $1,500 tucked away in a completely separate account? When checking hovers near zero, your brain enters fight-or-flight mode and your decision-making drops. Give your nervous system room to breathe.
3. Name the one leak that drains your peace
Look back over the last 10 months with zero judgment. Pick the single debt, recurring subscription, or cash flow habit that causes the most anxiety. When you name it plainly, it stops being a monster and becomes a logistical problem you can solve.
