Movies Saved My Life

Mary drags a reluctant Emma into the world of Twilight, the classic fantasy romance movie that defined a generation. But surprise, she kinda likes it?

Mary and Emma dive into the movie A Beautiful Mind, a human drama starring Russell Crowe, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Adam Goldberg, Josh Lucas and more. This film explores the life and career of mathematician John Nash, who endured paranoid schizophrenia during his time at Princeton University and MIT. As always, the podcast comes with spoilers, but this movie has some BIG reveals and we really recommend checking out the movie first.

This week Emma and Mary discuss (as cohesively as possible) the movie Labyrinth. Starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly, this 1986 Musical Fantasy movie had us confused and deep into conversation about the many possible symbolic references.

This week Mary and Emma watched the 1992 film Newsies, based on the true story of the 1989 Newsboys Strike of New York City. This cult classic was directed by Choreographer Kenny Ortega in his directing debut, features songs by Alan Menken, and stars Christian Bale, David Moscow, Bill Pullman, Robert Duvall and Ann-Magaret.

This week Mary and Emma watched the 2002 film adaptation of Tuck Everlasting, starring Alexis Bledel, Jonathan Jackson, Sissy Spacek and William Hurt. Does it hold up in 2020?
