MY GOSPEL @ Desmond R Singh

What place do good works have in the Christian life? We are saved by grace through faith—not by our works—yet Scripture repeatedly says our works matter. In this lesson, Brother Singh reminds us that every member of Christ's Body has a function, and that our faithfulness in fulfilling it will not go unnoticed. Salvation is God's gift, but when our Lord returns, He will come with His reward. The question is not whether we can earn salvation, but whether we are faithfully using what God has entrusted to us.

Mountain-top experiences are necessary in our Christianlife, but growth in God comes from the trials we endure in our valley experiences. The mountaintop gives us revelation, but the valley develops the character required to carry that revelation faithfully. Brother Singh referred to what the Apostle Paul called"... a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure" (2 Corinthians 12:7).

Thanksgiving preparations coincide with winter preparations. There are always chores to do and repairs to make to the church facility. So today was a physically demanding day for our pastor. Sometimes he is a carpenter, sometimes an electrician, sometimes a painter—but always a servantof God. We are all called to become servants of God, demanding change in our lives. Conversion is a process that takes place over time. Luke 22:31–34 records a conversation between Jesus and Pete...

Brother Singh was very pleased with Brother Vid's exhortation. He epitomized the Apostle Paul's instructions to Timothy: "…the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2). In other words, "You have heard me teach things that many reliable witnesses have confirmed. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who can pass them on to others.”

As Paul approached the end of his ministry, he reflected on the faithfulness of those who had stood with him—and the painful absence of those who had not. His words, "Only Luke is with me," reveal something of the loneliness that can accompany faithful service. In this message, Brother Singh considers the responsibility of those who hear God's truth through His appointed ministry.
