Narcissist Apocalypse: Patterns of Abuse

He pressured her into bankruptcy, kept assets out of her name, invaded her digital privacy, and used put downs and belittling to make her doubt herself. And when she left the relationship, the abuse only escalated.

He explains how the strengths behind each type can be exploited within abusive relationships until helping, loyalty, sacrifice, or keeping the peace comes at the survivor’s expense. Brandon also examines how people pleasing can develop through childhood experiences, trauma, oppression, and financial insecurity. The episode explores fawning as a survival response to fear and coercive control, including self-silencing, over-apologizing, emotional caretaking, walking on eggshells, and assuming responsibility for the abuser’s moods.

In this debrief episode of Narcissist Apocalypse, Brandon Chadwick breaks down Ehi’s story and examines how cultural beliefs were used within a rigid family hierarchy to preserve power. Respect was redefined as obedience, leaving Ehi unable to challenge the older family members who bullied, intimidated, and dismissed him. And Brandon explores how repeated put-downs taught Ehi to see himself as defective, while brief moments of approval made love and acceptance feel like something he had to earn.
