Today’s reading takes us to Psalm 16, a psalm David treasured deeply—and one Peter later uses to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus. David begins by anchoring himself in who God is: his Maker, his Mediator, and his Master. He finds his refuge in God, delights in God’s people, rejects the idols around him, and declares that the Lord Himself is his portion and inheritance.
Psalm 16 reminds us that the greatest gift is not what God gives us, but God Himself. In this life, He gives counsel, protection, joy, and gladness. But David also looks beyond this life toward something he could not yet fully see—the hope of resurrection. So today, read Psalm 16 slowly and let this truth settle into your heart: Jesus is the fulfillment of David’s hope. Because Christ conquered the grave, our joy is rooted in something death itself cannot take away.
