God promises protection, but then the tone shifts from victory to mourning as His people recognize the weight of what has been done. Nearly five centuries before the cross, Zechariah points toward the suffering Messiah and the grief that comes when sin is finally seen for what it is. But Zechariah does not leave us in conviction. Chapter 13 opens with a fountain—cleansing made available for sin and impurity. Conviction cannot cleanse us; it can only drive us to the One who can. So today, read Zechariah 12–13:1 and remember: the gospel is not merely that we feel the weight of our sin, but that Jesus has opened a fountain where guilty people can be washed clean.
