In this episode of No Context Cinema Club – a comedy film podcast and movie rewrite podcast – Rob rewrites Rain Man as a behind-the-scenes Truman Show spin-off, following the technician responsible for every ray of sunshine, downpour and storm in Truman Burbank’s artificial world. Paul Giamatti stars as Simeon, the production’s weather technician. He has spent years watching Truman grow up from behind the scenes, quietly adjusting the weather and convincing himself that staying inside the system means he can at least make Truman’s life slightly easier. Then he discovers the production’s contingency plan. If Truman ever attempts to escape by sea, the crew will create an artificial storm designed to frighten him into turning back. And if he refuses? The plan becomes considerably darker.
