Pharaoh tried to destroy the Hebrew boys, but one mother refused. Jochebed hid her son, built an ark of bulrushes, and placed him in the river. Pharaoh’s daughter found the crying baby and had compassion — unknowingly saving the child who would one day confront Egypt itself.
