The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is the agency tasked with measuring the use of illegal drugs, prescription drugs, alcohol, and tobacco; substance use disorder and substance use treatment; major depressive issues, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and other symptoms of mental illness, mental health care; and recovery from substance use and mental health disorders. The most recent data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) shows that in July, 2025 about 48.4 million U.S. adults (16.8% of the population) met criteria for a substance use disorder (SUD) in the past year. The key national statistics of the 48.4 million of U.S. adults is broken down as 27.9 million alcohol use disorder, 28.2 million drug use disorder and 7.7 million both alcohol and drug use disorder. A missing piece to this battle ground in our culture is the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ to save, deliver and transform lives. This is what Jesus Christ came for and continues to do in the lives of everyone that have trusted their lives in Him. In this episode of Oasis of Hope Podcast, Drs. Johnson and Feyi Obamehinti answer the question of tough love in motion with their special guest- Mr. Joseph Ganci- a Vietnam-era veteran, author, entrepreneur, and recovery advocate, who has been in continuous recovery since 1997. Mr. Ganci created RumRadio.org to support people in recovery, sponsors, and families. Salvation is found in no other person or name, but that of Jesus Christ- the Son of God, who paid the ultimate price on the cross to save mankind.
