Let George Do It - No Escape from the Jungle
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. George receives a letter that reads "My dear Mr. Valentine, my name is Peta Van Rassle. I'm a research chemist for one of the rubber companies with offices in Rangoon. It has been years since I even followed the American newspapers, let alone kept abreast of your customs. I have never been in your city before, so, you will understand how impossible it is for me to locate a certain man without your help. A man who, like myself, arrived from Burma. A man who is here, but is not here". Later, George and Brooksie meet with Van Rassle to talk with him about his letter, and the man he wants to find. Van Rassle says "It is a debt of honor, you understand, a purely personal matter. I must see him, and have only a few days left before I return to the jungle". Brooksie says "Wait a minute, Mr. Van Rassle. You said this man is here, but he isn't here". Van Rassle says "I assure you it is just as confusing to me as it is to you, Miss Brooks". George says "Well, to start, what is this man's name?" Van Rassle says "Hollowell, Terence Hollowell. He is about forty years old, tall, and quite distinguished". George asks "Does he live here? Have you looked him up in the phone book?" Van Rassle says "Oh, yes. He maintains a residence. I telephoned from my hotel and was informed by a caretaker that Mr. Hollowell won't be arriving from Burma until tomorrow". George says "Well, then he just hasn't gotten here yet". Van Rassle says "Yes, he has. I came by plane, and I'm sure he was at least a day or so ahead of me. Here, look at this cablegram". George reads "It's a waste of time, your trying to contact me. I assure you that, under the present circumstances, our meeting one another would be needlessly painful to you. It's a stroke of fate, that's all. Please understand, Terence Hollowell". Van Rassle says "That cablegram was sent from this city, so, he is in town. Yet, at his home they insist that he is not. He is here and he isn't".

Nick Carter, Master Detective - The Unwilling Accomplice
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. While at the police precinct, Nick sees his friend, Lieutenant Riley. Nick says "Hello, Lieutenant. What's new and interesting?" Riley says "Well, if it ain't my old friend Nicholas Carter, who used to be a detective". Nick says "Yeah. What do mean used to be?" Riley says "Sure, my boy. Tell me. How does it feel to be old and retired?" Nick says "Oh, come now, Riley. I get it. You're a little peeved because I've turned down those few cases you've offered me lately. Riley says "It's not a few separate cases, Nick. It's all been the same gang. I'm sure of it. They're the slickest bunch this department's ever been up against. We need your help, Nick. Look at this. It came over the wire only this morning". Nick reads the message and says "Another society robber. Quite a haul". Riley says "Yes, my boy, quite a haul. 75,000 dollars worth of gems right out of the vault. What do you say now, Nick?. He says "I think you're right. It looks like the same hand in every job. I suggest that for your criminal, you look for someone who's accepted in the homes of society and is just about the greatest safe cracker in the country, as well". Riley says "Oh, thank you, Nick. That's a very great help, I'm sure". Nick says "Oh, I'm sorry, Riley, but really, I'm not interested. You know, I don't take a case unless it's in the name of ...." Suddenly, a rock is thrown through a glass window near them! Riley says "What in the name of ..." Nick says "Wow, that was close. That stone missed you by inches". Riley says "Sure. Somebody's trying to bean me now, is it? Well, I'll fix that ...." Nick says "Wait a minute, Riley. That isn't it. This seems to be a little matter of communication". Riley says "Communication?" Nick says "Look, there's a note tied to that stone".

Cloak and Dagger - Over Ground Railroad
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. Lieutenant Fontan, an OSS agent, is attending a meeting in Colonel Johnson's office at the OSS headquarters in London. Johnson says "Lieutenant Fontan, this is Major Davidson". Fontan says “How do you do, Major?" Davidson says "Glad to know you, Fontan". Johnson says "Before I ask Major Davidson to tell you a story, I want to say something. At its narrowest, the English Channel is only 20 miles wide. Yet, it took Major Davidson here more than a year to get across. Hundreds of allied pilots all over France haven't been able to make it yet. And if something isn't done to help them, they never will". Fontan says "But Colonel, with the Nazis occupying France .... " Johnson says "The channel is still only 20 miles wide. Our trouble has been that, up to now, we've had no contact with the French underground. No way of helping them smuggle pilots out of France. All right, Major Davidson, go ahead and tell your story now". Davidson says "Well, I was shot down over the south of France coming back from a bombing mission. The rest of the crew was killed. It was just my co-pilot, Johnny Porter, and me left. We figured our numbers were up, but, uh, we were lucky. A farmer picked us up and hid us overnight. Then, the next morning, a big black limousine drove up, and a woman about 60 years old got out. She took us to her house in Paris and kept us there. She found a way to smuggle us across the channel with a fisherman just a few days ago". Fontan asks "Who is this woman, Major?" Davidson says "Her name is Madame Annette Joubert. During the time we were with her, she managed to collect two more of our boys, but she has no way of getting them out of France". Johnson asks "Well, what do you think, Fontan?" He says "For the first time, OSS has a lead, a contact. With her help, maybe we can set up a chain of way stations, an overland railroad, to help our flyers get back to England".

Jeff Regan, Investigator - This May Hurt Just a Little
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. It began on a Tuesday, when Jeff walked into the Lyon's office. Anthony J. was sitting behind his desk. He was removing a towel holding ice cubes from around his jaw. He says "Oh, hello Jeffery, I've been waiting for you". Jeff says "Trouble?" Lyon says "This? No, no trouble at all, just a toothache, but it's gone now". Jeff says "We got a client". Lyon says "Why yes, Jeffery, just what I was going to say". Jeff says "Okay, out with it". Lyon says "Well you see, I was feeling under the weather, the bicuspid is acting up again, and so well, I called a dentist". Jeff says "And that's when the toothache began to get better". Lyon says "No, no, in fact it was terrible. I was suffering the tortures of the damned. Well, Jeffrey, I finally got in touch with this man, Dr. Beauregard". Jeff says "Beauregard? You mean Jolly Charlie Beauregard, easy credit terms? Lyon says "Yes. And no-money-down. Jeff laughs and says "Oh, no". Lyon says "Well Jeffery, business hasn't been going well. Remember, our last fee turned out to be stolen money". Jeff says "Okay, Lyon, get on with it. You called the friendly credit dentist and he said what?" Lyon says "That's what is so remarkable, Jeffery. When I said I was head of the Lyon Detective Agency, he asked if I would send a man right over. I said of course, Dr. Beauregard, right away. He said it was important but he'd rather not talk about it over the phone, however, it had something to do with 100,000 dollars". Jeff says "That's when you got rid of your toothache". Lyon says "Well, Jeffery, think of it, 100,000 dollars. To have a toothache when a man is discussing something like that is sacrilege". Jeff laughs and says "Okay, Fatso. I'll go see Jolly Charlie Beauregard". Lyon says "Oh, one more thing, Jeffery. While you're there, open a charge account, just in case".

The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe - The Tell-Tale Ribbon
Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note. Archie picks up the ringing phone in Mr. Wolfe's office and says "Mr. Wolfe's office, Archie Goodwin speaking ... who is this?... who wants to speak with Mr. Wolfe?" Wolfe says "Nobody". Archie asks "Nobody?" Wolfe says "I said that. Hang up. It's late and it's too cold, and I'm not moving from this room". Archie says "Please, Mr. Wolfe, I can't hear a thing this old gentleman's saying". Wolfe says "Does it matter to you what I said? No". On the phone, Archie says "Now, what did you say? You were late because she was killed? Do you want us to find out who killed her? ... oh". Talking to Wolfe, Archie says "He says he knows who did it, but he has an important message for you". Archie says "Well then, come right over, we'll be waiting, Mr. Jenkins". A few minutes later, Jenkins is at the door. Archie opens it, and Jenkins says "It's me. I got a dispatch for Mr. Wolfe". Archie says "Come in, Mr. Jenkins. Mr. Wolfe, he says he has a dispatch for you". Wolfe asks "Who is it from?" Jenkins says "I don't know. I really do, but I'm supposed to say that I don't". Archie asks "Who was killed?" Jenkins says "Oh, it was a terrible thing. We were just crossing the turnpike, and this fellow came at us from out of nowhere". Wolfe asks "Well, how did it happen? Did he shoot her, or stab her?" Jenkins says "Oh no, he ran into her with his car. She was only nine years old". Archie asks "Your granddaughter? Jenkins says "No, Bessie, my old horse". Archie says "Oh, no". Jenkins says "Well, I've got to get along now, goodbye". Wolfe says "What is in the envelope?" Archie says "Mr. Wolfe, look. Five one hundred dollar bills! The note reads "Mr. Wolfe, your services are desperately needed. Come up this weekend as my guest, signed, E. Mellot". Wolfe says "Edward Mellot, the wealthy manufacturer, hmm?" Archie says "Well, looks as though you're going out". Wolfe says "Archie, pay my respects to Mr. Mellot and enjoy your weekend".
