Discipleship: The Way of Jesus | Ep. 203

A healthy church is made up of healthy members. Members of the body, in alignment with the head, are productive and fruitful because they have learned to listen to His will. This only comes by maturity of the members which is why discipleship is so important. We break down three defining marks of a disciple that show up across the Gospels: we follow Jesus, we are taught by Jesus, and we grow over time in real community that becomes family. That means discipleship is more than inspiration or transmission of information. It is submission, practice, and transformation as we learn to hear the Shepherd’s voice and respond with obedience, not comparison or competition. We then connect the dots through Acts and the early church: thousands added, believers continuing steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, breaking bread from house to house, and learning to live as a united people filled with the Holy Spirit. We also spotlight Aquila and Priscilla as a powerful reminder that you don’t need a title to be used by God, because ordinary believers can help others understand “the way” more accurately and strengthen the church through hospitality and truth.
