Week 42 Pt1 Who is Among You That Walketh in Darkness? Isaiah 50-51
What do you do when suffering comes from someone else’s choices? Isaiah reminds us that darkness isn’t always disobedience—sometimes it’s the weight of wounds we didn’t choose. God tells Israel their pain isn’t proof of abandonment. His arm is still strong enough to reach them, just as He dried up the sea and brought slaves through to freedom. The servant listens before he speaks, teaching us that faith in darkness begins with listening rather than forcing our own light. Self‑made solutions—control, revenge, rushed decisions—can’t save us. Isaiah’s answer is remember: Abraham and Sarah, the Exodus, creation, covenant. Remember who God is and who you are. Suffering is real, but it doesn’t write the final chapter. God removes the cup of staggering and promises joy for the rescued. Hope doesn’t deny pain; it believes pain can be redeemed. The God who made a road through the sea can still make a road home. Reflection Where has someone else’s choice left me carrying pain I need God to redeem? What has God already done that gives me reason to trust Him with what I cannot see?
