RECAP: Opening Statements Andew Griffin: Double Murder Trial

The murder trial of Andrew Isaac Griffin begins in Belmont County, Ohio, more than five years after the murders of Thomas and Angela Strussion.   On September 21, 2021, firefighters responding to a house fire in Belmont, Ohio, discovered the bodies of Thomas and Angela Strussion inside their home. Investigators determined the couple had been shot and their home intentionally set on fire. Their dogs also died in the fire. Thomas Strussion was the owner of Salsa Joe’s Smokehouse, and Andrew Griffin was a former business partner.   Prosecutors allege Griffin traveled from Oklahoma to Ohio, murdered the couple, set their home on fire, and returned to Oklahoma.   After more than three years of investigation, Griffin was arrested in Hilo, Hawaii, in February 2025 and extradited to Ohio.   Griffin faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder, aggravated arson, and aggravated burglary.
