264 | Overwhelmed by the Daily Chaos? 3 Ways to Make Mom Life Easier
Does mom life feel more complicated than it needs to be? In this episode, Danielle goes deeper on this week’s challenge and shows you how to make “systems” your friend. You’ll learn three simple ways to simplify the things you do over and over, reduce your mental load, and create more breathing room for what matters most. Danielle shares real-life examples from her own home, from affirmations on the bathroom mirror to a nightly dishwasher routine, plus a few ideas from a friend, so you can stop surviving your days and start living them. No complicated planning required, just small habit stacks that make busy mom life easier. What You’ll Learn Pair it: Attach a new habit or a dreaded chore to something you already do every day. Think reading affirmations while you brush your teeth, prepping water bottles or opening your Bible app while the coffee brews, or listening to a podcast or audiobook while you do the dishes. Plan it: Give recurring tasks a set place in your day to cut decision fatigue. Lay out outfits the night before, run the dishwasher every night, or do one small load of laundry daily with a delayed start instead of tackling a week’s worth at once. Simplify it: Eliminate repeated decisions and unnecessary tasks. Keep a shared running shopping list, a notebook of the dinners you’ve made, and a weekly meal plan. Hold a 10-minute family meeting, give mail a designated spot and one day a week to go through it, set reminders for things you’d forget, and keep a go-to restock list. And yes, you have permission to stop folding underwear. Whenever something in your life feels unnecessarily complicated, ask yourself: What can I pair? What can I plan? What can I simplify? Along the way, Danielle shares quotes from John Maxwell and Darren Hardy on why your daily routine is the secret to your success. You don’t have to overhaul your life to feel lighter, mama. Small systems and small habit stacks add up to big relief, because they free up mental load, cut decision fatigue, and leave room for the things that matter most to you. Pick one thing this week, pair it, plan it, or simplify it, and notice how much more breathing room you create. 263 | Want Less Mental Load, Mama? Steal A Simple Habit Hack for 1 Thing You Do Every Day
One small system, one everyday task, and a lot more breathing room for your busy mom life. Feeling overwhelmed by the endless doing of motherhood? In this Purpose Pop In, Danielle challenges you to take one thing you already do every day and make it easier with a simple system or habit stack. No complicated planning and no extra to-do list, just one small change that frees up time, energy, and space in your head so you can stop surviving your days and start living them. The Challenge This week, notice the things you do over and over again, sometimes multiple times a day, that take more effort than they should. Then pick one and ask: is there a better way to do this? Join the challenge with other moms in the group and share what you’re choosing. Ideas to Get You Thinking Getting the kids ready for school: Is there a step you could prep the night before or pair with something you already do? Figuring out dinner: What would make that daily decision feel lighter and less mentally exhausting? The nightly dishwasher habit: Danielle used to wait until the dishwasher was loaded to the gills. Now she runs it every night, gathers stray cups and plates from around the house before bed, and wakes up to clean dishes and a clear head. Habit stacking: Pair a new small habit with something you already do, so it sticks without extra effort. Anything physically or mentally exhausting: If it feels unnecessarily complicated, it’s a great candidate for a simple system. Why It Matters A “system” doesn’t have to be a bad word. When you simplify one repeated task, you reduce your mental load, free up time, and create more breathing room in your day. As Doug Firbaugh says, every day we can do something that inches us closer to a better tomorrow...and this one small change could be a game changer for your life. Final Thoughts You don’t need to overhaul your life, mama. You just need to start noticing. Choose one thing, make it a little easier, and watch what happens to your energy and your peace of mind. Then come back Thursday for practical ways to ease your mental load, plus a few simple questions to help you find the right small change. 262 | One Small Way to Feel Like Yourself Again as an Overwhelmed Mama (It’s Not What You Think)
If you’re an overwhelmed mom who has lost herself in the doing of motherhood, this episode is for you. Learning something new, even something small, can have a huge impact on you, your kids, and your everyday mom life. Danielle builds on the Tuesday challenge by explaining why learning matters so much for moms and how it can help you feel like yourself again. She shares how learning to build an art desk gave her a piece of herself back, how her daughter learning to swim changed their summers, and why you don’t have to be good at something to start. You don’t need to overhaul your life or master anything this week. You just need to pick one thing and take one baby step toward it. What You’ll Learn Why learning something new helps you feel like yourself again: how a new skill can restore your sense of identity when you’ve lost yourself in motherhood. Why your kids can’t be your whole life: they are your whole world, but defining yourself only by motherhood is risky, and learning gives you a piece of you back. How to stop pouring from an empty cup: doing something just for you fills you up, so you can show up with more joy, patience, and presence for your family. How to learn something even when you’re not sure you’ll be good at it: why learning how to learn is a valuable skill, and how a YouTube video and a little trust in yourself can get you started. Why small skills make a big difference: from Cricut projects, sourdough, and baby food to speed reading, crocheting, gardening, lifting weights, or writing a book, the right skill can ease your days and bring back joy. How to start without feeling overwhelmed: pick one thing, take one baby step, and let the next step reveal itself. Along the way, Danielle shares words from Pablo Picasso, Mark Cuban, and Anthony J. D’Angelo on learning, growth, and developing a passion for learning. You don’t have to wait until you have more time, more confidence, or the perfect plan. When you learn something just for you, you fill your cup, move forward, and begin to feel like yourself again. That joy spills over into how you parent, and your kids benefit too. So pick one thing this week, take one baby step toward it, and let yourself enjoy the process, mama. 261 | Lost in the Doing of Motherhood? Learn 1 Thing to Feel Like Yourself Again
A simple weekly challenge for overwhelmed moms: pick one small skill that would make your daily life easier, richer, and more joyful. Welcome back, mama! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, scattered, or like you’ve lost yourself in the doing of motherhood, this week’s challenge is for you. It’s not about going back to school or adding another big task to your already full plate. It’s about choosing one small skill that would make your everyday life a little better, and then taking one step toward it. The Challenge This week, think about one thing you could learn that would improve your daily life. It doesn’t have to benefit anyone else, and you don’t have to master it this week. Just pick one, and let it sit with you until Thursday. Next, we’ll take a baby step toward it. Need ideas? Here are some to get you thinking: A tool you already own: That Cricut collecting dust in the corner could save you time and money on teacher gifts, coach gifts, and matching tees for girls’ trips. AI for meal planning: Tell an AI tool what’s in your fridge and ask it to help you build a recipe or a week of dinners. A garden or a new hobby: Maybe you’ve always wanted to start a garden or bake sourdough but worried you wouldn’t be good at it. Stillness and rest: Learning to quiet your mind, rest, or be present for yourself. Prayer, meditation, or journaling: A practice that grounds you, even if you’re not sure what it looks like yet. A dream you’ve put off: One small step toward something you’ve wanted for a long time. A skill for your kids: Like teaching your child to swim, which can change what your whole family is able to do. Why It Matters Small skills can make a big impact. When my daughter learned to swim, it drastically changed our lives. I could finally trust her in the water and say yes to things we’d had to avoid. You never know how much one little skill will ease your days, restore your confidence, and bring back a sense of joy and fulfillment. And remember the words of Helen Hayes: “The expert in anything was once a beginner.” Don’t let “I don’t know if I’ll be good at it” talk you out of it, mama. Whatever you’re drawn to, don’t judge it. Final Thoughts You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need a perfect plan. You just need to pick one thing. This week, choose your skill and let yourself get curious about it. We’ll dig into what to do with it, and why this matters so much for us as mamas, on Thursday. Topics Covered learn something new, weekly challenge for moms, overwhelmed mom, mom guilt, loss of identity, feel like yourself again, self-doubt, scattered mom, on purpose living, small steps, personal growth for moms, learning new skills, Cricut, AI, meal planning, sourdough, starting a garden, meditation, prayer, journaling, resilience, joy, fulfillment, beginner mindset Connect with Danielle Join the weekly challenge & community at https://bumble.com/bff/invite/f0d661eb-8977-422d-85d1-c1ff39c85d11 Website: prioritizewithpurpose.com Free resources available at prioritizewithpurpose.com Have thoughts or questions? 260 | Feeling Lonely & Overwhelmed? How To Feel Loved By Giving It Away, Mama
Why the love you give away is the only love you keep, and how to model kindness for your kids, even with people who see the world differently. Do you feel lonely, empty, or disconnected in the middle of the overwhelm of motherhood? In this episode, Danielle shares a message that has been on her heart: the power of love and kindness, and why we need it now more than ever as moms. Drawing on quotes from Victor Hugo, Katharine Hepburn, and Elbert Hubbard, she explains why you can't be truly happy unless you feel loved, whether that love comes from God, from yourself, or from others. She also talks about what happens when we only seek out people who validate our beliefs, and why our kids are watching how we treat people who think differently than we do. This is a gentle but honest look at loving others without losing yourself, and at how giving love freely is what opens the door to receiving it. What You'll Learn Why you can't be truly happy unless you feel loved, and how loving yourself begins with knowing what love is How our need for validation and "my way or the highway" thinking leaves us feeling alone and divided How to show love, kindness, and respect to someone who disagrees with you without letting them walk all over you Why "outflow equals inflow" and what it means that the love we give away is the only love we keep How to soften your heart so you can receive the love that is already available to you Why kids model what they see, and how to teach them kindness by living it This week's challenge: show love or kindness to someone you wouldn't normally feel inclined to, or model it for your child If you've been feeling empty, scattered, or low on love, the answer may not be finding more of it, but giving it away. Love and kindness don't mean accepting mistreatment or giving up your boundaries. They mean respecting people as humans, standing up for yourself, and choosing not to be ugly back. When you extend love freely, you teach your children what it looks like, and you open your own heart to feel it again.
