Quilting...for the Rest of Us

Episode 237: Sneaky Quilt Shopping, a Retirement-Feelings Quilt, and an E-Bike Oops In this episode, I share about an upcoming “mayhem year,” which might make my posting a bit hit-or-miss, my son’s recovery, and my e-bike adventure. But mostly I focus on a couple of quilt shops I was able to visit on an August work trip, my retirement quilt, and my ongoing battle with EPP needles. I round it out with some listener comments and wondering about a hexi challenge. To leave comments, go to www.patreon.com/quiltingfortherestofus

Recording without my usual equipment from an undisclosed location while on a trip, in this episode I share briefly why I've been absent; then I discuss my Hunter's Star project, my travails with EPP, and reveal a cool new project I'm starting based on some life transitions. It's been a minute! I'm catching up after a hectic May that included back-to-back busy weekends, a work trip, and a rough respiratory illness that finally gave in to antibiotics. I give a project status update, share my plans for Angela Walters' Free Motion Feathers Quilt Along, and debate what's next — possibly put to a Patreon vote. I also talk about my day at the Genesee Valley Quilt Club Quilt Fest, fall down a Lucy Boston rabbit hole, and share some listener mail. Quick retreat recap: I packed my entire life into the Highlander (as one does), stitched my heart out, and came home with a longer project list than when I left. Success! In this episode: Retreat packing reality: you pack to the size of your car’s trunk, not the size of your needs. Weather report: yes. Quilt shop jaunt + cafeteria meals + retreat people-watching. Projects update: Charlotte’s 2025 Mystery quilt top: done (pics on Patreon). Hunter’s Star: up to 37 units… only 443-ish to go. 😅 Embroidery wildflowers #2 finished; #3 is still living in the car. Crumb strips continue to be weirdly satisfying. New-to-me tools for fabric kaleidoscope shenanigans. For links to resources referenced in this episode, visit www.patreon.com/quiltingfortherestofus
