Description
Tonight on Damn You Hollywood we are reviewing Primetime starring Robert Pattinson. Directed by Lance Oppenheim, the film turns Chris Hansen and To Catch a Predator into a story about journalism, entertainment, and ambition. Hansen’s televised stings made him famous, but the pursuit of a Texas prosecutor who never came to the sting house ended in tragedy and raised questions about how closely a news crew should work with police. Pattinson plays a man who believes he is doing good even as ratings, recognition, and the need for a bigger catch shape his decisions. How much of that portrait is documented, and how much is the movie’s invention? We discuss the performances, the film’s uneasy visual style, its treatment of the real Bill Conradt case, and the line between exposing wrongdoing and turning punishment into a spectacle. Join us as we ask whether Primetime has something useful to say about media ethics, or whether its own appetite for drama gets in the way.
