Metal Hammer of Doom: Anthrax - Cursum Perficio

Tonight on the Metal Hammer of Doom we're reviewing the latest Anthrax album, Cursum Perficio. Released September 18, 2026, the record is Anthrax’s twelfth studio album and their first since 2016’s For All Kings, marking the longest gap between albums in the band’s career. It is also their first album since 2004’s The Greater of Two Evils to arrive without a lineup change from the previous record. Work began in fits and starts as far back as 2018, but touring commitments, the pandemic, discarded material and continued rewrites delayed the finished album until 2026. The band entered the studio in 2023, with Joey Belladonna recording vocals later that year and production continuing into 2025. The title, Cursum Perficio, roughly translates to “I complete my journey,” though the band has stressed that this is not intended as a farewell album. Singles included “It’s for the Kids,” “The Edge of Perfection” and “Everybody’s Got a Plan,” with Scott Ian calling “The Edge of Perfection” the greatest Anthrax song in the band’s history.
