Built Different (Nehemiah 3): We Live To Give

A big idea can inspire you for a day, but only a lifestyle can carry you for a lifetime. We zoom out and talk about how anything worth building takes time, then we zoom in on the framework that keeps a church and a person moving forward: mission, vision, and values. When those three align, you stop drifting with the wind and start building on purpose. We use the book of Nehemiah to make it real. The wall gets rebuilt fast, the people celebrate hard, and then the story takes a sharp turn: Nehemiah returns to find neglect, compromise, and joy leaking out of the community. That tension opens up a question many of us feel but rarely name: why do we backslide after a breakthrough? The answer is not more hype. It is steady habits that turn a moment with God into an ongoing relationship with God. Our final value is the anchor that holds the others together: live to give. We unpack what it looks like to serve God with our treasure, our time, and our talents. That means generosity and tithing as worship, Sabbath rest as a trust move in a busy culture, and using spiritual gifts without comparing your calling to someone else’s.
