We Don't Do That Here!
“WE DON’T DO THAT HERE!” That’s what my pastor said as he put his hand up in my face like a big red STOP sign. I wasn’t trying to cause trouble. I was a new believer who had experienced something I didn’t understand, and I went to someone I trusted for help. Instead, I walked away hurt. But that church hurt was NOT going to get the final word in my story. In this episode of Real Talk with Rosie, we continue Step Two of 12 Steps to Freedom: “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” Rick and I had a choice. Would one painful church experience stop us from searching for God—or would we forgive, keep searching, and keep asking God to show us the truth? What happened next still makes me laugh. God used the computer guy at work to lead us to a church where I discovered something completely different. 😂 And a Bible study called “Breakthrough to Joy” quickly became known among us ladies as “Breakdown to Joy!” 😂 Through it all, I was learning something that became a huge part of Step Two: People may disappoint me, but God will never leave me or forsake me. 👑 ROSIE’S KINGDOM PRINCIPLE Don’t let a bad experience with God’s people become your definition of God. Forgive, stay in the Word, keep searching for truth, and keep following Jesus. 👑 KINGDOM INVENTORY Take some time to pray about these questions and ask the Holy Spirit to show you what is happening in your heart: • Have I allowed a church hurt to become my picture of God? • Is there someone I need to forgive without returning to unhealthy leadership? • Am I testing what I hear against Scripture? • Have I stopped looking for healthy Christian community because one experience hurt me? And here’s the big one: Do I believe God is still with me—even in the parts of my story I don’t understand yet? Don’t rush through these questions. Honest answers can help uncover places where God wants to bring truth, healing, and freedom. 💬 Choose one question and share your thoughts in the comments. Your story may help someone else realize they’re not alone. ❤️ Learn more about Recycled Women Ministries, my books, and resources for your journey at rosemaryfisher.com. Protect your Fruit. I thought They Were CRAZY and then I Became One of Them!
I thought THEY were crazy…then I became one of them! 😂 My husband and I once walked into a Pentecostal church, heard people speaking in tongues, looked at each other, and basically thought, “We need to get out of here!” So how did I eventually end up sitting alone on my living-room floor, Bible open, tears pouring down my face…doing the very thing I once thought was crazy? Oh friend, that's a story. In Episode 14 of Real Talk with Rosie, we're continuing Step Two of 12 Steps to Freedom: “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” I was still trying to figure out who God really was. Then an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader invited me to church because she wanted me to check out a man she was interested in. I went to check out HER man…and God used that day to lead me closer to MY Savior. What happened next challenged things I had been taught, frightened me enough to send me searching through Scripture, and became another turning point in my relationship with Jesus. But I want to make something very clear: Speaking in tongues did not make me more special, more spiritual, or more saved than another believer. Jesus saves. This is my testimony, not a formula for yours. Don't chase my experience. Chase Jesus. Don't seek a gift because you want to feel special. Seek the Giver. And if you've ever been skeptical about the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, speaking in tongues—or you've simply wondered whether there might be more of God than you've experienced—I especially want you to hear this story. 👑 Rosie's Kingdom Principle: “You can argue with my theology, but you can't argue with my transformation. When Jesus changes a life, people notice.” 📖 Scriptures: Matthew 3:11 • 1 Corinthians 12–14 • John 1:46 ❤️ Learn more about Recycled Women Ministries, my books including Recycled Women, and resources for your own journey toward freedom and transformation at rosemaryfisher.com. What If You Have the Wrong Picture of God?
What if the God you’ve been running from…isn’t who you thought He was? For years, I believed I had to work harder, behave better, and somehow fix myself before God could love me. I looked successful on the outside, but inside I was empty, hurting, and still trying to sit on the throne of my own life. Then Step Two challenged me: “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” There was just one problem—I wasn’t sure I trusted God. In this episode of Real Talk with Rosie, I share the very personal story of what happened when all my backup plans disappeared and I ended up on my knees crying out, “God, if You are really real…I need You now.” What happened next began changing everything. If religion, guilt, shame, addiction, control, or the feeling that you’ll never be “good enough” has distorted the way you see God, this episode is for you. You don’t need to have my experience. God created you uniquely, and He knows exactly how to reach your heart. Don’t chase someone else’s encounter—chase Jesus. 👑 Rosie’s Kingdom Principle: I couldn’t trust a God I was afraid of. I had to stop believing only what religion had taught me about Him and start finding out for myself who He really was by looking at Jesus. 📖 Scriptures: 1 John 4:19 • Luke 7 • John 14:9 • John 5 ❤️ Learn more about Recycled Women Ministries, my books, and resources for your journey: www.rosemaryfisher.com Your past does not define you. Are You Trying to Be Holy Spirit?
Are you trying to be the Holy Spirit? Before you say, “Absolutely not, Rosie!” 😄 Let me ask you something... Are you constantly trying to fix something—or someone? Are you carrying responsibilities that may not actually belong to you? Are you worried about what will happen if you stop stepping in, stop managing, stop rescuing, or simply let go? And here’s the really uncomfortable question: Are you trusting God with the outcome...or are you trying to control what belongs to Him? Friend, I know this struggle because I’ve lived it. Sometimes control doesn’t look like control. It can look like helping. Protecting. Worrying. Being responsible. Trying harder. Even loving someone deeply. But eventually, trying to carry what belongs to God will wear us out. In this episode of Real Talk with Rosie, we’re finishing Step One of 12 Steps to Freedom: One Day at a Time with Rosie with a truth that changed the way I understand powerlessness: 👑 ROSIE’S KINGDOM PRINCIPLE: Powerlessness shows me what isn’t mine to control. Obedience shows me what IS mine to do. Maybe freedom isn’t found in finally getting everything under control. Maybe freedom begins when we learn what belongs in OUR hands...and what belongs in GOD’S. And sometimes we need to stop playing Holy Spirit... and simply LET GOD BE GOD. If you’re exhausted from fixing, worrying, rescuing, managing outcomes, battling addiction, or carrying people you love, grab your Bible, grab your coffee, and come sit with me. We’re not giving up. We’re giving it over. ❤️ 📚 BOOKS, MINISTRY & RESOURCES Visit www.rosemaryfisher.com to order my books, learn more about Recycled Women Ministries, and find resources to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and walk in freedom. ❤️ If this episode speaks to you, please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, SHARE, and leave me a comment. I Love Them but I Cant Fix Them!
What do you do when you love someone with all your heart…but you can’t fix them? You see the choices they’re making. You know where those choices may lead. You’ve prayed, worried, advised, rescued, stepped in, cleaned up messes—and maybe lost a little sleep along the way. But nothing is changing. And now you’re exhausted. Friend, what if loving someone doesn’t mean carrying the responsibility for changing them? In this episode of Real Talk with Rosie, we’re having a very real conversation about one of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn: There is a difference between helping someone you love and trying to control an outcome that belongs to God. And sometimes that line is much thinner than we realize. If you’re worried about an adult child, struggling with a spouse, watching someone battle addiction, or simply exhausted from trying to make someone you love choose differently, this episode is for you. We’re going to talk about how to let go WITHOUT giving up, how to love WITHOUT enabling, how to establish boundaries WITHOUT feeling guilty, and how to finally place the outcome back into God’s hands. Because you can love them deeply… and still admit: “I can’t fix them.” 👑 ROSIE’S KINGDOM PRINCIPLE: I am responsible for my obedience. God is responsible for the outcome. If you’ve been carrying someone God never asked you to carry, grab your Bible, grab your coffee, and come sit with me. It may be time to put down a burden that was never yours to begin with. ❤️ Send this episode to someone who needs permission to love, pray…and let go.
