Pride, Weakness and Why We Don't Ask For Help | REALIFE Nation (Ep. 7)

SEP 24, 202622 MIN

Description

This week on REALIFE Nation, we wrap up our series "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" with a talk from Cam Ownbey on something simple to say but hard to do... asking for help. Cam shares a personal story from 6th grade about a "locker buddy" who ended up changing the course of his life. He then breaks down three real reasons we avoid asking for help: Pride, the fear of looking weak, and fear of being a burden to other people. We dig into what the Bible says about each one, including why God designed us for community and why admitting you need help is actually one of the bravest things you can do. 0:00 - Intro 0:54 - Adjustment from Normal Episode 2:25 - Start of Sermon 3:26 - Personal Example of Asking for Help 7:06 - Reasons We Don’t Ask for Help 8:30 - Reason #1 - Pride 10:48 - Reason #2 - Fear of Weakness 10:43 - Reason #3 - Being a Burden 16:09 - Why SHOULD We Ask for Help? 20:38 - Help Comes from the Lord 22:18 - Closing Prayer To find out more about REALIFE Nation, follow us on socials @realifehsm, visit mecklenburg.org/realife or check us out in person on Wednesday nights (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.) at Mecklenburg Community Church | 8335 Browne Rd.
