How does a real mom measure up against the internet’s parenting standards? Rachel is finding out the hard way. In Episode 42 of Resurface, Rachel turns online parenting advice into an Internet Mom Report Card and grades herself on everything the internet says a good mom is apparently supposed to do: perfect morning routines, creative lunches, developmental activities, enrichment, screen-time limits, gentle parenting, an organized home, quality family time, Pinterest-worthy memories, and more. Somehow this involves Fortnite raising a child, questionable lunch expectations, toy rotation, bribery, yelling, screen-time loopholes, secretly burying children's artwork in the trash, and the increasingly important question: where exactly are parents supposed to find the time to do all of this? This isn't a parenting-advice episode. It's a parenting comedy about what happens when you stack every supposedly reasonable parenting standard on top of every other supposedly reasonable parenting standard and expect one actual human mother to meet all of them. Rachel does surprisingly well in a few categories. She fails spectacularly in others. Then everything gets added up for the final Internet Mom Report Card.
