Speaker: Pastor Val Watkins Scripture Text: Hebrews 11:1-12:2 Flawed: The Heroes of the Faith The Bible’s Hall of Faith Hebrews 11:1-12:2 The author asserts in Hebrews 11 that believers are called to live by faith in the promise of God. True Bible faith is confident obedience to God’s Word in spite of circumstances and consequences. Yes, Abraham did live in “the land of promise” but that was just a shadow of the future Promised Land that awaited him and all who believe in the promise of God. Many of those listed in the Bible’s Hall of faith encountered tremendous obstacles in their lives. These ancient believers, along with all believers throughout all of history, are going to receive the promise of a better country, a city prepared for us by God. Jesus is the object of the faith of all people of all ages. He is the one in whom we find all the promises of God. We must deliberately lift our eyes from other distracting things and focus with utter concentration on him–and continue doing so. This is fundamental to a life of faith and finishing the race!

Speaker: Pastor Val Watkins Scripture Text: Proverbs 30:7-9 The Prayer of Agur Living In The Sweet Spot Proverbs 30:7-9 But we are left with the two-word worthy goal of how to do life… “just right.” The buried treasure in Proverbs 30 is the three-verse prayer that delivers a shocking formula for trusting God, discovering his will for our life. It’s a small detail, but it’s a good reminder that Agur is praying for stuff in his every day, real world, practical life. I think Agur is on to something. Truth matters. There is truth. However, Agur’s next request is a stunner. He dares to pray for a life of moderation. The perfect mixture of getting what you need and needing what you get. He sums it up nicely: “give me only my daily bread.” He is praying, in essence, “Lord, keep me dependent on you. Having complete trust in you is the balance in which I want to live.”

Speaker: James Collier Scripture Text: 1 Peter 4:10-11 (ESV) You Asked, He Answered, You Listen 1 Peter 4:10-11 (ESV) God called all sort of “ordinary people” to do extraordinary things. When you are following God’s will, you’re not on your own. Everything we have, everything we do, it all exists to bring glory to God! God is not a relic who did something once upon a time, but a loving, caring Father who is active in our daily lives. Just simply asking doesn’t do any good if as soon as you ask, you stop paying attention and follow your own path. We are called to follow God’s will. We don’t make decisions about how people will receive the message, we just deliver it and let God work.
