SEP 23, 202648 MIN

Description

What if belonging does not end when someone stops breathing? Dr. Sandra Evers joins Jean, Jillian, and Joanne for a deeply human conversation shaped by her years living among a Malagasy community in Madagascar. Together they explore grief, ritual, loneliness, curiosity, cultural difference, and a way of belonging that includes both the breathing and those who remain present after death. It is a conversation about connection, the people who continue to live within us, and what other cultures might teach us about being less alone. About Sandra Until 2019, she worked as associate professor of Anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Now she is an independent scientist & author. She is the initiator of the Anthropology of Children & Youth. Her studies and applied work were focused on improving peoples lives & giving voice to the voiceless ranging from children to people of slave descent in Madagascar, the Seychellois living under a repressive regime, the Chagossians etc. Be sure to visit her website where you will find her book about her experiences with the Malagasy, "Children Taught Me to Speak" Connect with Sandra Website: https://sandrajtmevers.nl LinkedIn: Dr Sandra Evers | LinkedIn About Rooted Voices, Sacred Bones Rooted Voices, Sacred Bones is a raw conversational podcast hosted by Jean Hamilton-Fford, Jillian Starman, and Joanne Sprott.
