002 - Servant (Cont.)

Last time, we looked at Paul’s use of the word “Doulos,” or “servant” to speak of himself in Romans 1. The significance of this was simple: Paul, a free man, was willingly placing himself lower than his social status indicated in order to serve God fully. In Philippians 2, Paul uses this word to instruct his readers by referencing the servitude of another: Jesus Christ.
