The Playbill That Swallowed a Bookkeeper Whole

The Playbill That Swallowed a Bookkeeper Whole A laminated playbill, pristine and full color, was found sixty yards into an eastern Kentucky woodland, a place the Meridian Players had never leased or mentioned. The woman listed in its cast, Beverly Henderson, a 56-year-old bookkeeper, had not spoken to her daughter in three months, and when her daughter called, a voice answered using the character's name, stating Beverly was unavailable. How did this object, and this woman, become so deeply entwined in a mystery that wasn't a physical disappearance but something far more deliberate? In this episode, we explore the life of Beverly Henderson, a woman of unwavering routine and predictability, before she encountered the Meridian Players. We uncover the subtle cracks that led her from a stable life in Bowling Green to an immersive theater collective in rural Kentucky, and the unsettling system that was already in place at the farmhouse.
